Bakewell Farmers Market

Bakewell farmers market, organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council continues to showcase high quality, local, traceable food and crafts from in and around the Peak District and while there are some crafts, most of the stalls are dedicated to food and drink with a number of favourites such as real ales, wines, mushrooms, large vegetable stalls, rare breeds of pork, buffalo meat, ice cream, bread, jams and preserves

This successful farmers market is the second largest in the UK and held undercover, admission is free and there is ample parking. It is well worth a visit.

Plant Hunters Talk and Walk 

£30 per person | 10am

An illustrated talk about the plant hunting expeditions that the 6th Duke encouraged from Chatsworth during the 19th century followed by a guided walk around the gardens.

This workshop is in the Old Potting Shed, accessed via the garden. Entry to the garden is included with your ticket.

Adult £15 Child £25 | The session runs from 1.30pm to 5.30pm.This event is suitable for children aged between 6 and 11. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join our farmyard team to help with their daily jobs. This is a chance for hands-on involvement in caring for the Chatsworth farmyard animals.

Head Gardener Tour or Garden Workshop

From £35 per person | All tours start from 11am and workshop from 10.30am.

Throughout the year we will be offering the opportunity to take a tour around the gardens with our Head Gardener, Lindsay Berry.  Join one of these tours to learn how the wonderful terraced gardens at Haddon developed over the centuries; how they contribute to the history of garden design; and to develop your knowledge of the variety of plants featured in the garden. 

Alternatively, you may wish to join one of our new Garden Workshops - short courses on key horticultural topics where you can benefit from the expertise and knowledge of our teaching team.

Chatsworth Arts Festival

A dynamic weekend of culture, thought and performance from artists, makers and designers.

The Chatsworth Arts Festival celebrates its fifth gathering in 2019 with a new look and over forty talks, performances, workshops and tours taking place across the estate.

The 2019 programme includes:

  • Jarvis Cocker - Musician, artist and broadcaster
  • Mark Wallinger - Turner Prize-winning artist
  • Sarah Raven - Celebrity gardener, broadcaster and writer
  • Block9 - Designers of temporary alternative realities
  • Chi-chi Nwanoku - Founder and artistic director of Chineke!, the first professional and junior BME orchestras in Europe

 

Festival day passes

Curate your festival experience - passes include admission to talks, selected workshops, tours, performances and discounted tickets for special events.
