Below the priory ruins a beach area provides the ideal place for sandcastle building with the children.

Plan a group visit to Bolton Abbey by contacting the Estate Office in advance for the best rates.  Also feel free to take your dog along with you for the day. Dogs are welcome on all the riverside paths however they must be kept on a lead along woodland trails in order to protect the ground flora and fauna.

Riverside

Parking is available alongside the banks of the river Wharfe at Sandholme. With over ¼ mile of river frontage there is ample space to play.

There are over eighty miles of footpaths across some of the most spectacular countryside in England. Whether you wander beside the river, cross the exposed purple heights of the heather moorland or explore the woodland nature trails, there is something for everyone.

The nature trails in Strid Wood start just a short distance from the Cavendish Pavilion.

Priory Ruins

Overlooking the River Wharfe are the ruins of the 12th century Priory and the thriving parish church. Both the priory ruins and the church are open to the public.
